City Government is My Jam!

I have been regularly attending city council meetings since filing as a candidate, and have been surprised to only see a couple of the other candidates at a couple of meetings (out of 11 total candidates in both districts). As a candidate, I believe that it's extremely important to attend meetings so that I can be up to speed on what's going on and familiarize myself with the city's processes. And frankly, I find the meetings to be fascinating, even the more "mundane" parts! City government is definitely my jam. In fact, even if I don't get elected (perish the thought!), I'll most likely keep going to every meeting.
Last night's meeting was long and good. Among many other items on the agenda, our city administrator, Jimmy Liles, gave a very comprehensive presentation about the city's Covid-19 response, and it was quite enlightening! As a "regular" citizen, you don't really think about all of the details and behind-the-scenes work that go into dealing with something like a pandemic. After hearing his presentation, I feel even more sure than I did before that our city government has a high level of integrity, expertise, and dedication to the community. We really have an excellent government for a relatively small town. Some residents may not agree with every decision that has been made, but I feel confident that every step of the way, our government has been doing their best to make the wisest decisions they can, for the greatest good, with the information they have at the time.
The more I see our government in action, the greater my desire to join their ranks as a member of your city council! I can promise you that no candidate would be more invested, more passionate, or take the job more seriously than I would. I would be honored and humbled to have your vote on April 6!
