Communication is Everything!

A few weeks ago, when I was still wrestling with my decision to run for city council, I decided to obtain the email addresses of the 4 candidates who had filed at that point. I emailed each of them, as a potential constituent, with a list of relevant questions.

One person responded in a timely fashion and answered all of my questions. I liked and agreed with some of the answers, while some of them had a lot of words but still didn't actually answer the question.

One person responded and said they would email me back with answers, but never did.

The other two never responded at all.

Friends, this boggled my mind! How can a person be running for public office, get relevant, appropriate questions from a potential constituent, and never answer them??? This tells me that they're not really "into" the race or the outcome, and that perhaps they didn't enter the race for the right reasons.

This solidified my desire to run, and I filed shortly thereafter. I can promise you that I will NEVER let appropriate

questions go unanswered. You may not always like my answer, but I WILL answer, in a timely fashion. And I will listen - you have my word.
